A Clinical Study on the Effect of Traditional Korean Treatment on Pediatric Rhinitis

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of traditional Korean medical treatment; acupuncture and herb therapy in pediatric allergic rhinitis patients.
Methods: This study population was 69 pediatric allergic rhinitis patients who had been treated in hospital. All the patients were asked to answer the questionnaires that consist of 10 questions about symptoms of allergic rhinitis.
Results: 1. The total scores from the same questionnaire about allergic rhinitis symptoms were significantly improved after the treatment compared to the scores before the treatment(p<0.01). 2. The Nasal symptom, especially, nasal obstruction rhinorrhea had significantly improved in all groups of patients(p<0.01). 3. The effect of the treatment was better with spending more time with acupuncture.
Conclusions: Traditional Korean medical treatment is relatively effective in treating pediatric allergic rhinitis.
